Today in Team Literacy 9/19

Learning Goals:
~Write your best personal narrative, or personal story, using memory of a person or place.
~Identify strategies used when writing personal narratives.

Writing Workshop Activities:
1) Share Example Narrative- Identify Strengths and Weaknesses
2)Review Notes-How to Write Powerful Narratives

Strategies for Generating Personal Narratives
Person: Think of a person who matters to you, list small moment stories, choose one, and write the whole story.
Up- Carl and Ellie

Narrative Challenge
Flash draft- write for 10 minutes using one of you people/moments

Writing Reminders
*Write a beginning for your story.
*Use transition words to tell what happened in order.
*Elaborate to help readers picture your story.
*Show what your story is really about.
*Write an ending for your story. 

Strategies Slide
Create a slide on the first writing strategy: 
1) Think of a person who matters to you, list small moment stories, choose one, and write the story. 


Homework:
Places tomorrow!  Think of a place you can draw a map of for class tomorrow.
